 SELECTION OF GEARBOX FOR INDUCTION MOTOR

    Right selection of gearbox as per your induction motor is necessary to get optimum output of results. So, for that some basic key points you have to know for general idea.

1) How much time you run the gearbox or motor, which gives you an idea about the right gearbox selection?

- As per your running time how much heavy gearbox you need you can decide i.e. if you will run the motor 24/7 continuously then heavy type of gearbox you have to select.

2) What is the input HP and speed of the motor being couple with gear box?

- As per your motor output speed and continuous torque the gearbox will be select as they can sustain the load including run without heating issue.

3) How much torque you need to align with your output requirement?

- What is the output torque you need to run the machine for ex. Escalator in railways platform need continuous running along with flexible heavy loads in Mumbai, it means what is the maximum continuous torque output you required you have to calculate.

4) Can the gearbox be back driven by the load?

- As my experience back driven is a major issue which I saw in above gearbox selection if you are going to select small gearboxes for heavy loads. So, keep it mind right type of gear used in gearbox and no back load issue can happen. 

5) What is the desired output speed or ratio for the geared box?

- As you purchase the gearbox for variable speed or torque which you have calculate as per your machine requirement.

6) What type of alignment or orientation you need as per your mechanical requirement for mounting?

- Which type of orientation i.e. right-angle gearbox inline, below center, etc. available in market as per your mounting position of machine and application of use you have to consider the alignment of the geared box. 

7) Which type of gear you need in gearbox?

- Same as per application worm wheel, helical, planetary gearbox. This totally depends on you torque output and mounting position of output shaft.

8) What is the output shaft?

- Output shaft length, diameter, hollow, solid, type all the things you can modify on time of purchase and selection. So, keep in mind.
