Aerodynamics Workshop

Chuck Glider...(Aeromodelling Profile)

Aerodynamics is the involvement in the design and development of air vehicles including the motion of objects and the study of forces between them.

We learn aero modeling in a very easy & adventurous way that everyone gets enjoyment in learning & enhances our interest & skills in aeronautical engineering. While working practically, we get core ideas & skills about aerodynamics.

We had learned about forces acting on glider like a combination of Weight & Drag force, Lift & Thrust force, also including movements in Plane like yawing, Pitching and rolling which works on a different axis of plane i.e lateral axis, a longitudinal axis, and vertical axis.

We get an idea about different types of aero model vehicles like

  1. Chuck Glider
  2. Ornithopter
  3. Towline glider
  4. Paper plane
  5. Control line plane
  6. Free flight plane
  7. Boomerang
  8. Aerobatic RC plane
  9. Rubbered Powered glider
  10. Radio Control Plane (Basic)

We had enjoyed & made a chuck glider under the guidance of Digvijaysinh M Rana in Tech Fest. Our Team included 5 members all of us work literally very well. In Competition, how many seconds the plane flying in the air will be calculated and on that basis, the winner will be decided.

In trials, our glider remains about 28 seconds in the air at a time. But at an instance in the trial, we cross 56 seconds and our plane flew away from the ground, and everyone watching our plane including our Digvijay sir. He said that your plane will definitely win this competition But Unfortunately, in the competition, we got 3rd rank.

Eventually, it's a great experience for all of us. Thanking Digvijay Sir & GTU for this exciting TechFest to boost up our confidence in practical life.
